Antenna Range Measurements

چکیده

The antenna range is set up for antenna ratiometry 1 so that two paths are constantly being compared, both originating from a common transmitting antenna. These two paths are called "reference" and "measurement." The reference path uses a fixed antenna that receives what should be a constant level; in reality, there are continuous small fluctuations in received signal at microwave frequencies even over a short distance like an antenna range. Using ratiometry, the reference path allows these random variations in the source power or the path loss to be corrected by an instrument that constantly compares the measurements with this reference path. The other path is for measurement. First, a standard antenna with known gain is measured and the reading recorded. Then when an unknown antenna is measured, the difference between it and the standard antenna determines the gain of the unknown antenna.

Design and Implementation of a Compact Super-Wideband Printed Antipodal Antenna Using Fractal Elements

A compact printed fractal antipodal bow-tie antenna is designed and implemented to simultaneously cover the operations in the C, X, and Ku-bands. It is demonstrated that by addition of small fractal elements at the sides of hexagonal arms of the bow-tie, a wide operating frequency range of 3.3 to 19.1 GHz can be covered while antenna size is only 30×34×1.2 mm3. In order to match the antenna to ...

Designing a Multiband Multi Polarization BTS Antenna

In this paper, a new antenna is presented which has an application in cellular telecommunication systems. The designed antenna works at the frequency range of 1900-2600 MHz which is able to cover 2G, 3G and 4G (LTE) services of the cellular telecommunication. In this paper, the micro-strip structure has been used to design the antenna. The shape of the patches is triangular where a peripheral r...

Measurement Uncertainties in Millimeter Wave fiOn-Chipfl Antenna Measurements

As a result of recent technical and regulatory developments, the millimeter wave (mmw) frequency band (30GHz – 300 GHz) is being adopted for a wide range of applications. Based on array signal processing technologies used for 4G and MIMO, companies are developing small active array antennas operating throughout the millimeter-wave bands. These arrays may include radiating elements and feed stru...

A New Compact Range Facility for Antenna and Radar Target Measurements

n A new antenna and radar-cross-section measurements facility consisting of four anechoic chambers has recently been constructed at Lincoln Laboratory on Hanscom Air Force Base. One of the chambers is a large compact range facility that operates over the 400 MHz to 100 GHz band, and consists, in part, of a large temperature-controlled rectangular chamber lined with radar-absorbing material that...

Unmanned aerial vehicle field sampling and antenna pattern reconstruction using Bayesian compressed sensing

Antenna 3D pattern measurement can be a tedious and time consuming task even for antennas with manageable sizes inside anechoic chambers. Performing onsite measurements by scanning the whole 4π [sr] solid angle around the antenna under test (AUT) is more complicated. In this paper, with the aim of minimum duration of flight, a test scenario using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is proposed. A pr...
